History
Navalafuente was born in the twelfth century by shepherds who grazed
their herds with abundant and rich herbs producing its mountains during
the summer. The first houses were erected around the source fuelling
the Nava, the name given to the people.
During the Middle
Ages belonged at the end of Bustarviejo, and the latter Sexmo of Lozoya
(Segovia), which was surrounded by possessions of the Duke of
Infantado, as the Lordship of Buitrago and Royal Manzanares and
possessions of the Archbishop of Toledo, as Uceda and Torrelaguna. As
part of the end of Sexmo Lozoya, his unit is last in the Commonwealth
of Land and City of Segovia, exempt entity feudal obligations and whose
contributions were made directly to the King.
Over the
centuries XIV, XV and XVI was absent in history, there constant
struggles to maintain the boundaries and rights of way and grass
claiming the neighbors of Miraflores, and Canencia Cabanillas,
obtaining a ruling favourable to the licensed Aguilera Bustarviejo.

places, with regard to their towns or villages, in exchange for large sums of money. This action was protested by the representatives of cities in the courts of 1563 without any results. Bustarviejo, with its appendages and Navalafuente Valdemanco, benefited from this rule, but in 1626 an amount of 442,500 maravedíes and being collected in 1650 by Royal privilege of Bustarviejo perpetual exemption from the jurisdiction of Segovia. This independence hurt Bustarviejo, to lose power and influence on Valdemanco and Navalafuente within this dynamic and, in 1734, won the Navalafuente range of independent Bustarviejo village, the village that had been linked its history.
In the 60 houses that formed the people living tenants and laborers who offer their services: surgeon, sacristan, bartender, miller, blacksmiths, and abaceros road.
In the early nineteenth century, a new administrative structure of the state remove the traditional organization based on "land", introduced in the 1833 provincial division, which did not take into account these values. Thus, even after independence from Bustarviejo still belong to Segovia, Navalafuente became part of the province of Madrid.En this time the bulk of the population is engaged in agriculture, the production of wheat, barley, rye and vegetables, keeping the sheep and cattle.
A flour mill, along with the manufacture of bread and wine, were the
only existing industrial activity. Also noteworthy are the existence of
several limestone quarries in the municipality.
The
evolution of the population suffered Navalafuente barely noteworthy
changes in this period of its history. During the first half of the
twentieth century witnessed a slight population growth stabilized
later. During the 50's and 60's saw a sharp decline in the population
due to migration from rural to urban areas and the ageing of the
population causing the abandonment of farming and ganaderas.Trilla
In addition to livestock, the
second largest economic
activity is the construction, fostered by the growth of Suburbia result of the phenomenon of second home. This phenomenon, coupled with a desire to escape to the mountains for many of Madrid, is promoting a new service economy and a progressive population growth, which has doubled in the past 10 years, reaching at present to 1,258 inhabitants.
